We have a fireplace in our home which we light up on cold days & at times we can have this running for hours on end. Once a fire really gets going we can put a large log on to burn through the night, In the morning we can still feel heat coming from the fireplace & on opening the door, even though it appears to all be but ash, on stirring the ash there are hot embers underneath. If we add some more fuel, paper, kindling & begin to blow on the embers we can re-kindle the fire into full flame within a matter of seconds.
‘Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. ‘ II Timothy 1:6
In this Scripture Paul is reminding Timothy to stir up “the gift of God” which means to re-kindle & he is using the same example of re-kindling a fire in stirring up the gift of God.
How often we can start that day & despite the roaring flames of yesterday, we still need to re-kindle the gift of God today & tend to the flames.
Is the gift of God aflame today, do you remember when you first received & how on fire you were then?
I encourage you today to re-kindle & stir up the gift of God because it’s the nature of fire to go out, somebody is waiting on you, somebody needs the gift of God in you!
